Learn about Sierra Leone's hidden treasures, it's history, and it's path for Development through Agriculture by studying at Njala University for a semester!
The AgReach Abroad Semester in Sierra Leone is the opportunity of a lifetime for students to learn about international development while immersing in rich West African culture. The program is part of a historical collaborative effort between the University of Illinois and Njala University in Sierra Leone. While all students participate in a set of core courses, students can select from one of two tracks: Agribusiness and International Development or Global Health and Nutrition. Each track offers a set of unique courses. The foundations of the program is experiential learning, where students not only immerse in life at an African university but gain invaluable experience though action-oriented, field-based international development research and a 6-week internship customized around student interests. Some courses are taught by local faculty and will incorporate local Sierra Leonean students who are enrolled in Njala University’s Agribusiness Management Honors program, offering cross-cultural classroom environments. The program offers ample opportunities to explore Sierra Leone's jungles and beaches while building professional skills and experience in international development. Undergraduates from any U.S. or Canadian university or college are eligible to participate in AgReach Abroad programs
